We provide expert advice, counsel and hands-on support to ensure that our clients’ side of the story is presented to the outside world in a consistent, coherent and professional manner. Preparation is key to successful crisis communications, and we provide annual planning, testing, exercising and training services to all our clients.

 

About the role:

Based at our London headquarters, the crisis communications manager will be an integral part of the Navigate Response team – managing initial responses to incidents and manning our 24/7 incident line. The role will also involve coordinating emergency response drills and working with our senior trainers (and on your own) to provide high quality media response training to our clients at all levels.

Day-to-day duties will include:

  • Leading crisis communications activities for some of the hundreds of cases we respond to every year
  • Developing crisis communication strategies for incident response
  • Drafting written communications & copywriting
  • Acting as a press officer and managing media interactions
  • Media and social media monitoring
  • Developing and maintaining outstanding relationships with clients
  • Conducting business development activities

 

What we look for in candidates:

  • Excellent (and we do mean excellent) writer
  • Confident and polished public speaker
  • Knowledge of commercial shipping and/or crisis communications experience
  • Excellent team player with great interpersonal skills
  • Keen to learn new skills and problem solve on the fly
  • Experience delivering senior level media (or other relevant) training programs
  • Willing and able to travel internationally (sometimes on short notice)
  • Highly organized with abundant common sense and the ability to muck-in and get the job done
  • Work well under intense pressure and show initiative during slow periods
  • Social media management and monitoring experience would be a significant asset
  • Business development experience would be an asset
  • Tech skills and website development experience would be an asset
